The Kansan Staff ST. LOUIS — The Bethel College volleyball team came back after a 10-day layoff to finish 4-0 Friday and Saturday at the University of Health and Sciences and Pharmacy Tournament in St.
MAIZE — The Newton High School football team had no answered for the Maize Eagles Friday in a 49-0 Railer loss in Maize. The second-ranked (KFCA, Class 5A) Eagles were led by quarterback Avery Johnson, who hit 17 of 20 passes for 277 yards and six touchdowns.
Central Kansas League Hesston 28, Hillsboro 18 HILLSBORO — The Hesston Swathers downed rival Hillsboro 28-18 Friday in CKL play in Hillsboro. Hesston led 14-0 after the first quarter, but Hillsboro got within two at the half, 14-12.
Great Bend- Abigail Elaine “Abby” Stiner, 24, passed away on September 13, 2022, in Kansas City, Mo. She was born on August 13, 1998, at Great Bend, Kansas, to Kyle & Aiden (Meacham) Stiner.
Newton- Marion Regier, 95, died Thursday (September 15, 2022) at the NMC Health in Newton. She was born on April 12, 1927 in Richmond, Kansas, the daughter of Al f r e d a n d Emma Roeckers Wiesner.
Recently, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly affirmed a deep-rooted conviction about Kansas agriculture: “In Kansas, farming is a way of life and local Kansas farms are vital to our economy – they feed the nation and the world.”
The Kansas State Fair kicked off with a debate between two candidates for governor. During the debate Republican Derek Schmidt was asked if Kansas is better off today than it was under former Governor Sam Brownback. Schmidt refused to answer the question. As a state are we better off? Yes. And I think most Kansans would agree.
