Drought effects hitting parks, wildlife

For the past few years the water being low in the pond of Camp Hawk is not unusual - there were problems with a stand pipe and overflow tube in the dam. But that’s not why the water level at the pond is what county parks director Kass Miller calls “Friggin’ low” at this time.

Threshers to host Ottawa in KCAC play

The Bethel College football team passed its toughest test to date with a 30-24 comeback win over then ninth-ranked (NAIA) Kansas Wesleyan last week. The now 14th-ranked Threshers will try to push forward at 6 p.m.

Virginia Kosminski Freach

Virginia (Ginger) Freach, 85, died peacefully September 18, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas. Ginger was born September 25, 1936, to Andrew and Frieda Kosminski in Newton.
