Hesston women top McPherson JV HESSTON — The Hesston College women’s basketball team outscored the McPherson College junior varsity 16-5 from the free throw line to claim a 51-41 win Saturday at Yost Center in Hesston. The Larks trailed 9-8 after the first quarter, but led 23-22 at the half and 38-31 after three quarters.

NRC hosts ‘Tiny Tot Turkey Trot’

Newton Recreation Commission hosted a “Tiny Tot Turkey Trot” for the third year, with nearly 20 tots taking on an obsticle course, short run and craft projects in the gymnasium. “We do two laps to four laps based on age,” said Candice Egizi-Sifuentez, program director for the recreation commission.

ELBING — The Berean Academy boys’ basketball team enters the 2022-23 season with three starters and two other letterwinners returning. Berean Academy is coached by Lewis Wiebe, in his 29th season with the Warriors.

I see that our city commission is planning to approve a pricing increase to our city utilities. The city has already stopped providing recycling: the city retrieved one of my trash containers and did not reduce my monthly fee now that I’m only getting one container emptied each week...I actually only need it emptied once a month, but this city does not offer the option for once-a-month service.
