Hesston women top McPherson JV HESSTON — The Hesston College women’s basketball team outscored the McPherson College junior varsity 16-5 from the free throw line to claim a 51-41 win Saturday at Yost Center in Hesston. K-State Research and Extension news service MANHATTAN, Kan. — The beginning of the winter holiday season has begun, filled with food, family, friends and fun.
Newton Recreation Commission hosted a “Tiny Tot Turkey Trot” for the third year, with nearly 20 tots taking on an obsticle course, short run and craft projects in the gymnasium. “We do two laps to four laps based on age,” said Candice Egizi-Sifuentez, program director for the recreation commission.

If you’re a regular reader of Plains Folk, it’s likely we share certain values. One of these is that life is not a purely transactional matter. There are important things that are not reducible to calculation and exchange. On the other hand, you have to make a living.
I see that our city commission is planning to approve a pricing increase to our city utilities. The city has already stopped providing recycling: the city retrieved one of my trash containers and did not reduce my monthly fee now that I’m only getting one container emptied each week...I actually only need it emptied once a month, but this city does not offer the option for once-a-month service.
