The Newton High School girls’ basketball team hit just 15 percent from the field (six of 40), falling to Maize South 59-19 Friday in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play at Ravenscroft Gym. Maize was 24 of 43 shooting.

Meier earns state award

A Newton native and local young professional recently received recognition for his work at the state level. Benjamin Meier, Prevention Program Director for Mirror, Inc., was recognized in Topeka as an inaugural recipient a “Kansas’ NextGen Under 30 Award” for his leadership with youth in Harvey County.

Cheney runs stop Remington in HOAL-CPL Challenge
