TOPEKA — Attorney General-elect Kris Kobach on Monday said he would hire a retired judge from the Kansas Court of Appeals to serve as solicitor general responsible for representing the state in civil and criminal appellate cases.

PREP GIRLS Wheat State League Goessel 41, Rural Vista 26 GOESSEL — The Goessel High School girls’ basketball team had seven players score, while Rural Vista had just three score in a 4126 Goessel win Friday to open Wheat State League play.
The Newton High School girls’ basketball team hit just 15 percent from the field (six of 40), falling to Maize South 59-19 Friday in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play at Ravenscroft Gym. Maize was 24 of 43 shooting.
