Robert “Bob” Wesley Baumgartner

Robert “Bob” Wesley Baumgartner, age 86, went to be with the Lord on November 12th, 2022 at Newton Medical Center with his family by his side. Bob was born July 6th, 1936 in Elbing, Kansas, the son of Harold and Mildred Baumgartner. He graduated from Newton high school and retired from Boeing after 40 years of service He married Bonnie Smith on May 14th, 1954 in Newton, Kansas. They shared over 68 years of marriage. He was a dedicated long-time member of Westside Freewill Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas where he taught Sunday School and ministered to others for years. Bob is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sister Cathy Hirsch; daughter Lorri Fortna; sons Bobby and Paul Baumgartner; grandchildren Jeremy and Sara Moore; Shelly Riemann; Jessica Moore; Jordan and Marlowe Baumgartner, Leslie Moore; Adam Fortna. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is preceeded in death by daughters Rita Baumgartner and Rhonda Roberts; brothers Butch and Leslie Baumgartner; sister Harriet Baumgartner and great granddaughter, Amber Ewertz. There will be a Celebration of Life service on January 7th, 2023 at 6:00 pm cst at Cross Point Free Will Baptist church in Wichita, Kansas. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on behalf of Bob.

Orlin H. Wiggers

Orlin H. Wiggers, 78, of Halstead, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his home. He was born April 29, 1944 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Wayne Willard and Eula Letty (Unruh) Wiggers. He attended Mount Pleasant and Prouty country schools. Orlin was a member of Garden View Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Halstead. He worked as a welder at Hesston Corporation and as maintenance at Bethel Hospital in Newton. Orlin also farmed. He was united in marriage to Betty Rose Mears on April 14, 1967 in Hesston. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Paula Jo Wiggers of Halstead, Jana (Darin) Dirks of Inman, and Matthew (Janelle) Wiggers of Potlatch, ID; six grandchildren; brother, Eldo (Roberta) Wiggers of Hesston; and sisters, Trudie Wiggers and Nancy Wiggers, both of Halstead. Orlin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; mother and father-in-law; one sister-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Garden View Mennonite Church, Halstead. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, January 7, at Moundridge Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Scott Goering

Scott Goering, born October 23, 1951, died January 4, 2023 at the age of 71. He lived in rural Newton, KS. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Lorene Goering. Scott is survived by daughters, Megan Frymire (Keith) and Leslie Knapp (Daniel), and sisters, Beverly Martinez and Trisha Grosch (Doug). Grandchildren include Natalie, Ally, and Alex Knapp, and Caleb, Cameron, Colby, and Collin Frymire. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews. Scott was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Scott loved working outdoors and ran Goering Enterprises for 46 years. He started out doing dirt work and expanded into demolition. He enjoyed maintaining his own equipment and teaching family and friends all that he knew. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family outside of work. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, January 9, 2023 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Newton Bible Church, 900 Old Main Street, Newton, KS on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 10:00 am. Following the funeral, burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, KS. Memorial donations may be made to Newton Bible Church, 900 Old Main Street, Newton, KS. 67114. Broadway Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
