Thresher women drop two straight

After working their way back in the KCAC playoff picture, the Bethel College women’s basketball team dropped a pair of home games in a three-day span. Bethel fell to Kansas Wesleyan 70-62 Saturday and Avila 60-53 Monday.

Railers fourth at Eureka girls’ tourney

EUREKA — The Newton High School girls’ wrestling team finished fourth Saturday at the 23-team Eureka Invitational. Columbus topped the field with 165 points, followed by Eureka with 126, Burlington with 104, Newton with 89 and Coffeyville with 81.

Velma Audrey Teichroew

(1927-2023) Velma Audrey Teichroew, born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on November 29, 1927. A daughter of Abram and Susie Voshage Teichroew, she grew up with two younger sisters, Vernette (Robert Regier) and Elaine (Le Roy Unruh) on a farm two miles north of Mountain Lake public schools and graduated in 1945.
