Railer boys stay with Colts in first half

HAYSVILLE — The Newton High School boys’ basketball team managed to stick with Campus for the first half and the first couple of minutes of the third quarter, but the Colts were able to pull away from there to claim a 7649 win Friday in AV-CTL I play at Haysville.

Byrd II free throws hands Artaz 100th win

STERLING — Clifford Byrd II hit four of four free throws in the final seven seconds of regulation to hand the Bethel College men’s basketball team a 76-75 win over Sterling College and hand BC coach Jayson Artaz his 100th career win. Bethel led by 10 at the half, 46-36.

New York Magazine’s Jonathan Chait calls Republican noises about perhaps not just automatically supporting increased government borrowing “extortion” and a “blatant violation of democratic legitimacy” (because, as you no doubt learned in junior high civics class, even entertaining the idea of not voting in favor of Jonathan Chait’s priorities is forbidden by the US Constitution).
