Railer boys fall to no. 4 Maize South

MAIZE — Between the poor shooting and the turnovers in the first half, the Newton High School boys’ basketball team couldn’t get much going against fourth-ranked (KBCA, Class 5A) Maize South, falling 71-36 Tuesday in AV-CTL I play in Maize. Newton had nine turnovers in the first quarter alone, three in the first minute, falling behind 6-0.

Wind Energy rules debate returns

Justin Stucky, who serves as the chair of the Harvey County Planning and Zoning Board, went to the county commission Feb. 7 seeking three things – a discussion to change part of the Commercial Renewable Energy Project rules, a moratorium on wind energy projects and a public vote on whether or not such projects should be allowed in Harvey County.
