Charles “CE” Ford, 85 of Newton Kansas, went to be with the Lord on March 6th, 2023. Charlie was born August 3, 1937, to Charles E. and Rose “Crandall” Ford in Marion County. A very special Thank you to people who have helped Charlie during the past years of his life. A special thanks to Sarah and Janel Ferris, Staff at Paramount Nursing Home, Newton, Staff at Salem Nursing Home, Hillsboro, KS and Shawn Wetschensky with Good Shepard Hospice, Wichita, KS Due to Charlie’s wishes, his body will be cremated, and no Memorial service held. If so inclined, feel free to make a donation to a local animal shelter or to Good Shepard Hospice in his name. Charlie will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Denise S. Neubauer, 57, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at her rural Burrton residence. She was born December 15, 1965, in Oakland, California to Dennis D. and Jeanne (Mitchell) Klein. On May 28, 1988, she married Philip M. Neubauer at Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Musicians for Newton High School made the most of the first time the Kansas Bandmasters Association hosted “Jazz Championships.” Newton High School Jazz Ensemble I earned first place in their division - Kansas High School Activities Association Class 5A at the March 7 event at Friends University. They did so behind winning awards for the best saxophone section, and a tie for best trumpet section in their classification.
