Water tank construction paused, cost increases

This week the Newton City Commission and approved an amended low-interest loan agreement with the State to account for increased costs of replacing the city’s oldest water tank - a project that has been ongoing for years.

Newton baseball team ends regular season with split

As the old proverb goes, “for the want of a nail,” or in this case a third out or even a third strike, a sweep was lost for the Newton High School baseball team against Valley Center Tuesday and Wednesday at Klein-Scott Field. When the first game was suspended because of weather in the bottom of the third inning on Tuesday, the Railers were down 3-0.
