HALSTEAD – The Goessel High School golf team is off to state after a second-place finish Wednesday in the Class 1A regional tournament at the Wedgewood Golf Course in rural Halstead. The tournament started on Monday, but had to be completed Wednesday because of the weather.

WICHITA — The Newton High School softball team was vexed by Bishop Carroll shortstop K Schoenfeld in a 12-0 loss in five innings Wednesday in the Class 5A regional semifinals at the Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita.
