NHS music performs festival pieces recital

The FIRST Robotics program at Newton High School put together quite a season — from fielding two robots for the first time in program history to finishing one match away from a possible trip to the world championships.
A number of businesses have come and gone from what was established as Dickey’s Drug Store in 1877 in the 600 block of North Main. And for a number of years Leah Gaeddert has driven by what she called a “whimsical” building at 611 N. Main with a dream for the old building.
The Bethel College Department of Nursing honored its junior students in the annual lamplighting, held Feb. 22.
TOPEKA — Hesston College students recently had a unique opportunity to participate in the Kansas Independent Colleges Association (KICA) Student Day at the Capitol, where they engaged with state legislators and gained firsthand experience in government operations. This marked the first time Hesston College students attended the annual event, which highlights the role of independent colleges in Kansas and their impact on the state’s economy and workforce.
Over the next several weeks, Bethel College will be recognizing its alumni award winners for this year.
The Board of Harvey County Commissioners will meet for a special meeting at 9 a.m. March 31 in the community room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main.
The next in a series of programs connected with Kauffman Museum’s current special exhibition will look at how immigration affects churches.
Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra will host a “Spring Family Concert” at 3 p.m. April 5 in Bethel College’s Memorial Hall, 300 E. 27th Street, North Newton.
Join artist Stephanie Bayliff for a watercolor embroidery workshop from 1 to 4:30 p.m. April 5 at the Carriage Factory Gallery, 128 E. Sixth Street.
