Tuesday the business portion of the Newton USD 373 Board of Education meeting was fairly short, as the board had something else to attend too – tours of Chisholm Middle School and Newton High School as the group wrestles with the future building needs of the district.
May rains have not fully pulled Harvey County and Newton out of a lingering multi-year drought, but they have been helpful. And recent rains helped the city of Newton avoid creating a “Water Warning” condition this week.

On the final official day of his junior year Hunter Graber, a student at Newton High School, was already laying the foundation for the proverbial “what I did with my summer vacation” essay for next year.
“How far do you live from school?” I ask my students. Their answers will be in miles.
