There’s plenty of “Anti-Semitism” to go around

On May 20, Israeli forces bombed two homes in Gaza, where, Reuters reports, “children were among the 18 dead.” The attack was justified, the Israeli regime claims, because -- who knows? -- there might have been a Hamas member hiding in one of the closets or something. To criticize those killings, we’re told, is “anti-semitic” even though the dead were almost certainly all semites (Palestinian Arabs). And there are a LOT of such attacks.

Amish Cook: A new level of excitement

A week ago, we were all thrilled to have a newborn added to the Raber family; Jenson Kade was born to my younger sister, Faith, and her husband. There is nothing quite like that newborn preciousness of a brand-new breath, ready to grow into his or her own unique self. My far-away sister from South Dakota had come for a period of six weeks with plans to have a home birth at their rental home in Illinois. We were delighted to have this rare opportunity to spend time with Jenson during his first several weeks of life.

Time to rest

The school year has wrapped up for my two children and summer break has officially arrived. The weeks leading up to those last days of school for my elementary-aged son and daughter were filled with tests, final projects, field trips, locker clean outs, a field day, a sixth-grade promotion and celebrations.
