Swather boys have big shoes to fill

HESSTON — The Hesston High School boys’ basketball team will have to overcome the loss of seven seniors in its quest for a fourth-straight Class 3A state title.Garrett Roth begins his second season as the Swathers’ coach.Hesston was 25-1 last season, winning the Central Kansas League title at 9-0.Hesston topped Marysville 50-44 in the state finals.Two starters return from last season — seniors Jackson Fry (6-2, 4.7 ppg, 2 spg) and Adrian Hernandez (6-3, 6.8 ppg, 3 rpg, 1.6 spg).

Four of five starters back for Remington girls

BRAINERD — The Remington High School girls’ basketball team had a standout year last season and with four starters and three other letterwinner back, look to have continued success this year.Ricky Snyder returns for his second season as the Broncos’ coach, assisted by Allison O’Brien.He has a career record of 118-141.Remington was 17-6 last season, 8-1 in the Heart of America League.
