Drones have rapidly evolved to provide many new services. News reports often have footage from overhead drones. More farmers are now using drones to manage their crops and herds, and even narrowly target spraying of weeds. U.S. law enforcement is using more drones at active crime scenes. And our scientists are using drones to accomplish tasks that would otherwise be nearly impossible

Board of education to meet

The Newton USD 373 Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 in the board meeting room of McKinley Administrative Center, 308 E. First.

Area gets second round of snowfall

Just as streets were becoming passable and school started again on Jan. 9 after a winter storm dumped more than 5 inches of snow, and a layer of ice as well, in the Newton area the warnings that old man winter wasn’t done yet started.
