The voting process of the Newton Kansan Athletes of the Week for Week 15 of the winter sports season has opened.

This week’s nominees are:
Boys

MARK SCHNABEL/NEWTON KANSAN
Barrett Moddelmog, senior, Moundridge High School, basketball. In three games at the Class 2A state tournament, Moddelmog scored 40 points with 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

MARK SCHNABEL/NEWTON KANSAN
Reed Friesen, senior, Hesston High School, basketball. In three games at the Class 3A state tournament, Friesen scored 67 points, 23 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

MARK SCHNABEL/NEWTON KANSAN
Tanner Scott, sophomore, Newton High School, swimming. Placed eighth in the Class 5-4-3-2-1A state diving competition with a score of 309.10.
Girls

MARK SCHNABEL/NEWTON KANSAN
Kendal Brueggen, senior, Hesston High School, basketball. In three games at the Class 3A state tournament, Brueggen scored 58 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, eight steals and two blocked shots.

Addisen Wills, junior, Halstead High School, basketball. In three games at the Class 3A state tournament, Wills scored 38 points with 12 rebounds, 13 assists, 13 steals and one blocked shot.

Cammi Unruh, junior, Moundridge High School, basketball. In three games at the Class 2A state tournament, Unruh scored 53 points with 14 rebounds, six assists, six steals and two blocked shots.
Voting is open until midnight Sunday and winners will be announced in the March 29 Kansan.
Nominees are selected from results reported to the Kansan as well as culled from various sports statistics sites.
