Governor announces water local consult meetings
TOPEKA — Governor Laura Kelly announced this the dates for the second round of local consult meetings to gather input on strategies for implementing the 2022 Kansas Water Plan - including a meeting in Newton.The September meetings will build on the first round of local consult and Regional Advisory Committee meetings held earlier this summer.The Newton meeting will be 9 a.m.
County to review flat mill levy budget
After listening to multiple discussions of the county budget, and if it was possible to increase personnel in the sheriff’s department and the number of miles or road improved by the road and bridge department while keeping the mill levy flat, undersheriff Shawn Chapman had a message to deliver to the Harvey County Commission.“You have a big decision ahead of you,” Chapman told the commission during its most recent budget meeting.
