New KU Medical Center study aims to curb obesity in rural Kansas

Rural Kansas families with elementary school-aged children who want to live a healthier lifestyle have a free opportunity to do so via a new study led by the University of Kansas Medical Center.Known as iAmHealthy Parents First, the study is the first randomized controlled trial in the world designed to examine the effectiveness of an integrated obesity treatment program for adults and children.

KBI to focus on cybersecurity, fentanyl prevention, official tells lawmakers

TOPEKA — A Kansas Bureau of Investigation official told lawmakers on Thursday that crimes against children, cybersecurity threats and fentanyl are some of the top areas of concern for the state’s law enforcement agencies.KBI Executive Officer Robert Stuart pulled out a one dollar bill to give a visual demonstration of the dangers of fentanyl to lawmakers on the House Committee on Transportation and Public Safety Budget.
