HESSTON — An audit of a small Mennonite college in rural Kansas has found systemic failings, with sexual abuse reporters pressured to meet their abusers faceto- face and “forgive and forget” the abuse.

As Newton USD 373 walks through the process of shuttering Walton Rural Life Center, there are decisions needing made about not only the building - but the people who attend and teach class there. Some of those decisions, like the transferring of several teachers and the school principal to Northridge Elementary for next year, have already been made.

School district shortens year The Newton USD 373 board of education made an adjustment to the school calendar, taking two days off the calendar later this month and shortening the school year. The district had not used any weather days, though did use two days following an internet security incident.

Hutchinson Trinity wins HOAL golf title
HESSTON — Hutchinson Trinity claimed four of the top six places Monday to win the Heart of America League Championships at the Hesston Golf Course. Trinity claimed a team score of 331, followed by Berean Academy at 376, Remington at 412, Sterling at 418, Inman at 424, Sedgwick at 439 and Marion-Centre at 447.
