I am proud to officially be a Kansas State Wildcat. This past weekend, I walked across the stage in Bramlage Coliseum to receive my master’s degree and an official place in the K-State family.

Michael Christopher Rainey Wiebe of Newton, Kansas, was born in Wichita on July 24, 2002, to Sara Hussein Awad and Sam Rainey. Bev Wiebe brought Michael home to Florence, KS, on July 30, and cared for him as his foster parent. In 2003, Bev adopted Michael. She loved her son with unwavering devotion until her life ended on September 14, 2020. HAYS — The Newton High School boys’ golf team will send senior Grayson Ybarra to state after he tied for 10th at the Class 5A regional tournament Monday at the Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays. Salina South won the team title at 353, followed by Hutchinson at 355 and Hays at 359.
The National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men’s Golf Championships opened Tuesday at Sand Creek Station with a crowded field after the first round of play. Just 13 strokes separate the top 11 teams out of 24 in competition.
SALINA — The Berean Academy golf team is off to state after a second-place finish Monday at the Class 2A regional tournament at the Salina Municipal Golf Course. Host Salina Sacred Heart, the defending Class 2A state champion, won the team title with a 288.
A German historian and pastor will be bringing an exhibit of his work to Kauffman Museum for three days. Through posters and a few artifacts, the exhibit relays the story of Mennonite connections, relief efforts and congregations in East Germany from 1949-89.
Come Sunday night about 240 members of the Class of 2023 will walk across a stage in Hartman Arena and turn the tassels on their mortar boards. It’s graduation.
The Newton High School class of 2023 observed a spring tradition May 16, a walking parade in their caps and gowns through schools in the district Seniors walk through Chisholm Middle School, Santa Fe 5/6 Center and the elementary they attended. Seniors also visit Cooper Early Education Center during the morning walks before returning to Newton High School.
