A bid opening at the Harvey County Commission on April 25 was, in some ways, a rude awakening for the county. Namely because of the four bids received, all were well above what was budgeted for a project to replace four structures for the road and bridge department.

Verna Louise Koehn Becker was born on August 7, 1942, She died on April 21, 2023 at the age of 80. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Eden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Rural Burns, Kansas. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday evening at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to to Gospel Tract and Bible Society or Christian Public Service (CPS) and left in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Doris De Hoogh, age 89, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Orange City Area Health System, surrounded by loved ones.
