Andrew (Andy) E. Krause, 89, of Hillsboro, KS entered into God’s Kingdom on Feb 9th, 2023. Andy was born January 4th, 1934 in Goessel, KS to Ed and Tilly Krause. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the Hillsboro American Legion.

Commission votes on utility rates

With little discussion the Newton City Commission voted 4-1, with commissioner Clint McBroom the dissenting vote, to adjust water and sewer rates for 2024. It was a move that drew the ire of Ed Myers, who has been speaking during the public comment section of city commission meetings for months in opposition to utility rate increases.
