Railer baseball team looks to five returning starters
The Newton High School baseball team will rely on five returning starters and three other returning letterwinners to set the tone for the 2023 season. Mark George returns for his 16th season as the Railers head coach.

OTTAWA — The Bethel College softball team dropped a pair of games to 19th-ranked Ottawa Monday in KCAC play at Ottawa. Bethel lost the first game 8-0 in six innings on the eight-run rule.
Railer soccer squad to feature youth
Youth will be served for the Newton High School girls’ soccer team this spring. Out of a 28-player roster, there are just two seniors, eight juniors, 10 sophomores and eight freshmen.
Exhibition opens at art gallery
Carriage Factory Art Gallery in Newton will host a “All Things Bright and Beautiful” featuring the works by four artists including Beth Burns, Tarah Lynn Clark, Lori Dreier, and Tina Thomas. The show will be on exhibit and for sale through May 12.
