Across the country, a big backlash to new renewables is mounting

BUCYRUS, Ohio — In four terms as a county elected official in northern Ohio, it was the most contentious issue Doug Weisenauer had ever seen. The state legislature had newly empowered county governments to drastically restrict wind and solar power development, a process formerly overseen by the Ohio Power Siting Board, and the meetings of the three-member governing body for Crawford County (population 41,754) suddenly started becoming a lot more animated.

Lent is here – remind me what it’s all about?

Foreheads smudged with the sign of the cross are the most visible sign of Ash Wednesday, which begins the season of Lent in many Christian denominations. The 40-day period leads up to Holy Week, some of the most sacred days in the church calendar – including Easter, which commemorates Christians’ central belief that Jesus was crucified and buried before rising from the dead.

MCC to host comforter blitz

YODER – All are welcome to join the 15th annual Mennonite Central Committee Comforter Blitz on March 6, 7 and 8 at Journey Mennonite Church at the Yoder Campus, one mile north of Yoder. Blitz times are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
