Dear Doctors: I have read that older adults may not get enough vitamin D in winter. My father-in-law is 73 years old. He’s from Florida, but he’s spending a year with us here in Maine. Legal notice hiccups spur discussion of statute change
The 2022 budget season was the first time counties, municipalities and schools were subject to the “revenue neutral rate” law passed by the Kansas Legislature, and as would be expected there were some hiccups along the way.
Utility rate discussion looms for January 30

The Bethel College women’s basketball team probably played one of its best defensive first halves of the season in conference play and one of its best offensive fourth quarters to upset Friends 73-66 Wednesday in KCAC play at Thresher Gym. Bethel is now 4-1 since the start of the calendar year.

The Bethel College men’s basketball team has never been known for playing above the rim, but that changed Wednesday in an 82-66 win over Friends in KCAC play at Thresher Gym. Bethel had four dunks in the game, plus a number of other tip ins.
Railers sixth at Derby Invitational
DERBY — The Newton High School boys’ swimming team claimed a pair of state consideration times Tuesday in a sixth-place finish at the Derby Invitational at the Campus High School pool. Derby won the meet with 532 points, followed by Buhler at 519, Campus at 399.5, Great Bend at 220.5 and Hutchinson at 215.
