“Election Day” has become a fuzzy concept lately: Officially it falls on “the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November,” but most states offer early voting in person or by mail these days.
The Kansan Staff The Bethel College football team did what it needed to do Saturday to finish the season with a 9-1 record and claiming a share of its third straight Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference title. The Threshers can now only wait and watch the process play out as the team gets a bye in the final week of the regular season.
An overwhelming bond issue passage Nov. 8 means renovations coming to a pair of nearly 90 year old buildings that currently serve as a 5/6 grade school in Newton USD 373.
The first two properties to enter the Newton Land Bank were given to the land bank on Nov. 8 - tow of three properties previously owned by the City of Newton. “We thought this would be a good exercise for the land bank to bring the first properties in where the city owns the properties and nobody gets hurt in the transfer,” said Zach McHatton, Community Development Director for the city of Newton. “... These three properties will be good for infill development.”
