The Newton High School girls’ golf team suffered a slight step backwards in terms of team placement Tuesday, taking fifth at the Newton Invitational at Sand Creek Station. Emporia won the title of the 11-team tournament at 175, 14 strokes ahead of Maize South.
LAWRENCE — The Newton High School gymnastics team placed fifth Saturday at the Lawrence Free State Invitational at Rock Chalk Park. Olathe West won at 101.2, followed by Shawnee Mission East at 98.1, Free State at 97.3, Lawrence at 95.6 and Newton at 93.0.
