County sets date for wind energy rules vote

For members of the Harvey County Planning and Zoning Board there has been a lot of work to get to this week - the week that recommended rules for renewable energy projects were formally presented to the Harvey County Commission for initial review and questions. “We tried to make it as fair to everybody as we could,” said Justin Stucky, the chair of the Planning and Zoning Board. “It’s not only the neighbors, but people who own these properties as well. Reblooming Poinsettias and Christmas Cactus

Gardeners like a challenge and the sense of accomplishment when trying something new. Forcing poinsettias and Christmas cactus to rebloom provides such an opportunity. Shield them from any outdoor, street or reading lights that can delay or prevent flowering.

Insight: History of Hedge

Osage orange trees are still common throughout much of the United States, though not many people appreciate just how much the thorny, dense trees have shaped our country. Before Christopher Columbus’ arrival, Osage orange had a limited range in the Red River basin in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Like the droves of Europeans who followed, the tree eventually spread to all corners of our country, so long as you don’t count Alaska and Hawaii.
