Newton gymnasts post top score

The Kansan Staff EMPORIA — The Newton High School gymnastics team had a season-high team score with a second-place finish Monday at the Emporia quadrangular. Lawrence Free State won the meet, followed by Newton in second, Lawrence in third and Emporia in fourth.

Railer spikers drop two SALINA — The Newton High School volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play Tuesday at Salina South. Newton fell to Salina South and Maize in two sets each.

Bivalent booster comes to Health Department

The Harvey County Health Department has a limited number of COVID boosters, the new “Bivalent” boosters designed to take on a rapidly spreading variant of the virus. “Everyone has been hearing about the bivalent booster, we currently have 100 doses in our office of the Moderna booster that is eligible for 18 and older,” said Lynette Redington, director of the Harvey County Health Department.
