As Kansas schools, from kindergarten to post-graduate, have returned to classes this month, our political culture has invented new ways of torturing teachers and other educators. Education reporter Suzanne Perez of KMUW has chronicled the construction of this torture device by state legislators, parents and boards of education.
HESSTON — A young Hesston High School girls’ tennis team got a trial by, if not fire, at least mid-90s temperatures with high humidity to open the season Thursday with a fifth-place finish at the Hesston Invitational I at the Hesston High School and Ward Tennis Center. Defending Class 4A state champion McPherson won the team title with 25 points, followed by Buhler at 21, Smoky Valley at 18, defending Class 3-2-1A state champion Wichita Collegiate at 15 and Hesston at 14.
