Old west shootout to be reenacted

Newton Kansan August 20 marks the date of one of the most violent days in the history of Newton, Kansas. One hundred and 151 years ago, “Newton’s General Massacre,” captured the attention of the nation and gave the new town the reputation as “Bloody Newton.” The city would be formally founded about five months later.

John Rosalez

John Rosalez, 73, died August 2, 2022 at NMC Health in Newton. He was born March 8, 1949 in Newton, Kansas to Apolonio and Margarita L (Balandran) Rosalez. On December 5, 1992 he married Juanita Arrellano and she survives of the home.
