McPHERSON – It was a Texas hat trick plus one for Newton High School sophomore Izzy Sandoval, scoring five goals with an assist in a 7-4 win over Augusta Friday afternoon in the seventh-place game of the McPherson Invitational at McPherson Stadium.

The Sunset Elementary PTO’s hosted a Family Fun Night on April Fool’s Day, taking over the Newton Recreation Center for about two hours on a Friday night. WHITEWATER – The Moundridge Wildcat softball team swept a doubleheader against the Remington Broncos Friday in HOAL play. Moundridge won the first game 23-17 and the second game 10-7.
Bethel splits with Friends The Bethel College softball team posted its third straight KCAC split of the season, sharing wins Saturday against Friends University. Bethel lost the first game 14-2 and won the second game 2-1.
