April and May madness in college golf is going to run through Sand Creek Station this week and next week. The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Championships concluded Tuesday.
The Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team retained its title at the Jayhawk Conference Championships Monday and Tuesday at Sand Creek Station. The Blue Dragons finished the eight-team tournament with a team score of 852, winning the title by 29 strokes over Garden City Community College.
The Newton High School baseball team had to overcome a big inning in each game to claim a non-league doubleheader sweep of Salina Central. Newton won each game 10-9.
