McPHERSON – The Newton High School girls’ soccer team stayed with the Hays Indians for 75 minutes of play before falling 4-1 Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the McPherson Invitational. Madelyn Martin scored twice for Hays, both in the second half.
Thresher golfers 6th at Southwestern WINFIELD – The Bethel College golf team finished sixth out of eight teams Monday and Tuesday at the Southwestern Moundbuilder Spring Classic at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield. Host Southwestern won the meet at 615, followed by the University of Sciences & Arts of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Panhandle State tied for second at 621.
