With all the Newton High School boys’ basketball team has gone through this season, Friday’s 57-56 loss to Salina South at Ravenscroft Gym hit the Railers hard. The Railers had their chances throughout the game, but turnovers proved to be too much to overcome.
What do first-edition Macintosh computer and a penny-farthing style bicycle have in common? They are both part of “The Magic of Things” exhibit at Kauffman Museum, a special exhibit that opened Feb. 19 celebrating the now 125-year history of the museum.

Most people learn early on the dangers of generalizing. Poet William Blake put it bluntly several hundred years ago: “To generalize is to be an idiot.” For some reason the lesson doesn’t stick.
Let teachers teach When our teachers are not allowed to discuss and teach the facts of our nation’s history to their students we destroy the very foundations of this democracy; we become not a democratic society but a puppet society. And who pulls the strings? What is it about our history that so terrifies these politicians? We cannot possibly correct what we cannot recognize.
Cancer is a broad term which encompasses many different diseases, and each type of cancer has different patterns and tendencies. But at its core, cancer means a group of cells which is growing uncontrollably, due to one or multiple genetic mutations.
