Pentagon chief tests positive for COVID

WASHINGTON – Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Sunday he has tested positive for COVID-19 and was experiencing mild symptoms while quarantining at home. In a statement Sunday night, Austin said he plans to attend key meetings virtually in the coming week “to the degree possible.” He said Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks would represent him in appropriate matters.

WALTON - Willis John (Bill) Voth died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2021 at his home in rural Walton Kansas. He was born September 20, 1928 to Katharine and John Voth in Goessel, Kansas, the youngest of five children. Bill attended Wareham District School, Walton High School, Newton High School and Bethel College. On June 2, 1951 Bill was married to Nada E.Voth and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past year.

Shaun Cornell Williams, Sr.

NEWTON - Shaun Cornell Williams Sr, 56, of Newton, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on December 3rd, 2021. Due to Covid, there will be a private service held by family members only. Shaun Cornell Williams Sr was born on June 13th, 1965 to Richard & Phebia Williams. Shaun graduated from Newton Highschool and served in the air force. One of Shaun’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He always wanted children and considered himself lucky to have a son. His son, Shaun Cornell Williams Jr called his father his best friend and still see him that way. He was always there for his son through his ups and downs. Shaun was a huge Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved talking about sports 24/7.
