SALINA — The third quarter for the Newton High School girls’ basketball team resembled the third quarter of a number of Railer games this season, watching a close game get away. It almost happened again after getting outscored 19-8 in the third quarter against Salina South, but the Railers put things back together in the fourth quarter to claim a 47-43 win over the host Cougars Tuesday in Salina.

SOFIA, Bulgaria – Protesters opposing COVID-19 restrictions in Bulgaria clashed Wednesday with police as they tried to storm the Parliament in the capital of Sofia. A heavy police presence prevented protesters from entering the building, and some were detained.
