The Newton High School boys’ basketball team didn’t have the size or physical strength that rival McPherson showed. The Railers also struggled with turnovers and rebounding, but Newton did show some shooting touches in a 68-64 overtime loss to the Bullpups.
The future of two homes in the 200 block of East Second Street currently undergoing the condemnation process is getting a bit clearer — with the strong possibility of both homes being demolished to make room for new Habitat for Humanity Homes.
MARION — At the end of last season, the Halstead Dragon girls’ basketball team graduated one of the most successful senior classes in school history. That leaves the Dragons with a young team to try and carry on the tradition.

PREP GIRLS Remington Classic Sedgwick 49, Belle Pl. 35 SEDGWICK — Sedgwick junior Addie Fitch scored 21 points to lead the Cardinal girls to a 49-35 win over Belle Plaine Monday in the Remington Classic.
