BC men win fourth straight

STERLING — The Bethel College men’s basketball team posted a dominant showing on the road, stopping Sterling College 99-51 Monday night in KCAC play at Sterling.

Bethel jumped out 19-5 in the first five minutes of play. Bethel led 50-25 at the half. The closest the Warriors came in the second half was 23 points.

Bethel hit 37 of 78 from the field, including 19 of 44 from 3-point range. Sterling was 18 of 70 from the field, six of 23 from beyond the arc. Bethel held a 53-41 rebounding edge.

Bryant Mocaby led Bethel with 21 points. Jordan Neely scored 18 points off the bench.

Matthias Nero led Sterling with 12 points. Sterling falls to 2-4, 0-3 in KCAC play.

Bethel wins its fourth straight game, improving to 5-3, 5-2 in KCAC play. Bethel is scheduled to host McPherson at 8 p.m. Wednesday. McPherson leads the conference at 2-0, 4-0 overall. McPherson downed Sterling 93-85 Saturday. A game Monday at Bethany was postponed.

SCOTT HONORED — For the second straight week, Bethel junior Jaylon Scott was named the KCAC Offensive Player of the Week.

In an 82-69 win over Bethany, Scott scored 29 points with 11 rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and two steals. It was his fourth double-double of the season and a season high in scoring.
