Newton High School girls’ tennis coach Nick Sisson celebrates his 15th season as the Railer coach with three returning letterwinners.

Sisson is assisted by Jenson Kingsley.

Newton was seventh in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play last season. The team was fifth at the Class 5A regionals.

Returning letterwinners include Madelynn Hamm, Hallie Watkins, and Katie McMullin. Hamm finished fourth in doubles play at league last season. She tied for seventh at regionals, one win away from a state berth.

Other top varsity candidates include Taylor Redington, Hayley Ruth, Lucy Buller, Sara Musser and Catia Sawatsky.

“We did not qualify any state competitors last year, but hope to do so this year as several of the girls have been out working this summer,” Sisson said.
