Railer-Weeks12U finishes 2-2

The Newton Railers-Weeks 12U baseball team finished weekend play 2-2.

The Railers lost to the Astros 10-9, beat the Avengers 4-3, beat the Spartans 7-5 and lost to the Stateline Shox 6-3.

Newton is 9-19.

G2 Heat-Llamas18U goes 5-1

CHANUTE — The G2 Heat-Llamas 18U softball team finished a weekend tournament 5-1 in Chanute.

Saturday, the Heat downed KMO Hype 5-4, lost to High Octane 5-3 and beat High Octane 5-4. Sunday, the Heat beat the G2 Heat-Lutz 13-5, beat the KMO Hype 4-2 and finished play with an 8-2 win over High Octane.

In the first game against the KMO Hype, Lil Bird had two hits with two RBIs. Maizy Robins pitched 3.2 innings for the win, striking out one.

In the first game against High Octane, Makenzie Maring, Emily Kvasnicka and Alejandra Llamas each drove in a run. Annabelle McLaughlin took the loss, striking out one. Robins struck out one.

In the second game against High Octane, Robins drove in two runs. Maring and Cassie Wedel each went two for three hitting with an RBI.

Robins pitched 4.1 innings for the win, striking out one. Bird struck out two.

Against the Heat-Lutz, Kvasnicka had two hits and drove in four runs. Bird had two hits witn three RBIs. Alivia Lange drove in two runs.

Robins struck out two in two innings for the win.

In the second game against the KMO Hype, Lange had two hits and three RBIs. Koehn had two hits and an RBI. Robins pitched five innings for the win.

In the final game against High Octane, Kvasnicka had two hits, including a home run, and finished with three RBIs. Shalley Clark had three hits with three RBIs. Lange drove in two runs. Robins pitched the complete game, striking out two.

The Heat are 20-11-1.

Swathers 14Ufinishes 0-2-1

The Hesston Swathers 14U baseball team went 0-2-1 during weekend play.

Hesston tied the Junction City Jays 3-3, lost to the Barnstormers 16-4 and lost to the Kansas Crush 10-9.

Against Junction City, Aedan O’Halloran had two hits and an RBI. Whit Rhodes struck out 11 in five innings. O’Halloran struck out one in one inning.

Against the Barnstormers, Beau Warden, O’Halloran, Keagan Shelite and Layne Clark each drove in a run. O’Halloran struck out two in 1.1 innings. Josh Koehn struck out three in two innings.

Against the Crush, Koehn drove in two runs. Shelite and Clark each added an RBI. Warden had two hits. Warden took the loss, striking out one.

Hesston is 5-10-1.

Lady Railers10U finishes 0-4

The Newton Lady Railers 10U softball team finished 0-4 in weekend play.

The Railers fell to the G2 Heat-Lawlor 11-5, lost to the Hutchinson Misfits 12-0, lost to the G2 Heat-Carbajal 3-1 and lost to the Stealerz 7-0.

The Railers are 16-13-1.

Railers 14Usweeps Sedgwick

The Newton Railers 14U baseball team claimed a pair of wins Saturday against the Sedgwick Cardinals.

Newton won 13-1 and 16-3.

In the first game, Kale Degenstein tossed a two-hitter, striking out seven.

James Hulse had three hits and four RBIs. A.J. Carbajal and Luke Overton each drove in two runs.

For Sedgwick, Preston Agee struck out six.

In the second game, Newton’s Blaze Bradshaw struck out 10 in the one-hitter. Bradshaw had two hits and three RBIs at the plate. Austin Aarons drove in two runs. Lucas Huxman had two hits with an RBI.

Sedgwick’s Brandon Ferguson struck out two. Gage Harris struck out three for the win.

Newton is 10-16.

SWBC Railersdrop two games

The Newton SWBC Railers 12U baseball team dropped a pair of games over the weekend.

Newton fell to the Wichita Vipers 12-6 and the Stateline Shox 9-3.

Newton is 4-22.

G2 Heat-Carbajal12U finishes 1-3

The G2 Heat-Carbajal 12U softball team finished the weekend 1-3.

The Heat lost to the Cowley County Legends 12-1, lost to the TRYC Rebels 6-5, beat the Lady Railers 10U 3-1 and lost to the Wichita Sluggers 15-3.

The Heat are 29-11.

Halstead claimstwo wins

HALSTEAD — The Halstead 18U baseball team downed the Haven Wildcats 18-17 Friday in Halstead.

Tied 10-10, Halstead scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Haven scored seven runs in the top of the fifth.

Halstead downed Larned 16-1. Halstead scored in every inning but the third.

SWBC Railerssplit games

The Southwest Boys’ Club Newton Railers 12U baseball team split a pair of games.

On Thursday, the Railers downed the Twisters 12-5. Friday, the Railers lost to the Wichita Vipers 12-6.

Newton is 4-21.

Railers-Weeksfinish 2-1

The Newton Railers-Weeks 12U baseball team finished 2-1 in recent play.

On Thursday, Newton split with the Hutchinson Storm, winning the first game 10-3 and losing the second game 11-6.

On Friday, Newton downed the Dirt Dawgs 13-4.

Newton is 7-17.

Rangers 9Ufinishes 1-2

The Newton Rangers 9U baseball team finished a recent slate of games 1-2.

On Thursday, Newton lost to the Sluggers 7-5 and beat the Rebels 14-13.

On Friday, the Rangers fell to the Pride 16-3.

The Rangers are 5-11.

Lady Railers10U 0-2

HUTCHINSON — The Newton Lady Railers 10U softball team finished 0-2 in games at the Fun Valley Sports Complex in Hutchinson.

Newton fell to the G2 Heat Lawlor 12U team 11-5 and lost against the Hutchinson Misfits 10U 12-0.

The Railers are 16-11-1 and play the Cheetahs at 9:15 p.m. Monday at the Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita.
