Bethel gets new opponent

Newton Kansan

The Bethel College football game scheduled for Saturday at home against Southwestern College has been postponed until 1 p.m. Nov. 7 at Thresher Stadium.

Instead, Bethel will host MidAmerica Nazarene of the Heart of America Athletic Conference at 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to the news release from Bethel College, “The postponement comes due to concerns of COVID-19 on the campus of Southwestern College.

“Fans who already reserved tickets for the game on October 3 do not need to do so again. Your original ticket reservation will be honored. Fans with season passcodes will have until Thursday, Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. to reserve their tickets and guarantee a seat. Beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, single-game ticket sales will become open to the general public up until the game is sold out.”

In a statement from Southwestern College, “All Southwestern student-athletes who are in-season are routinely tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. The rescheduling follows positive test results, isolation, and quarantine of student-athletes in the Moundbuilder football program. As a precaution, the competition scheduled for October 3 will be postponed.”

All other Fall Fest activities are expected to go on as scheduled, including the BC Hall of Fame Banquet, which is 7 p.m. Friday at the Wild Prairie Event Center. There are still some tickets available, which need to be purchased by the end of the day Wednesday at https://www.bethelthreshers.com/tickets?skipMobile=1.

Bethel’s next scheduled game is 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at Tabor in Hillsboro.
