One dead after U.S. 50 crash

Brandon Michael Albert, 33, Goddard is dead following a two vehicle crash on U.S. 50 west of Newton — .2 miles west of Emma Creek Road — at about 8:38 p.m. Oct. 27.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2009 Spectra driven by Wanda S. Ivy, 47, Newton was traveling Eastbound on US 50 from the Milepost 266 and was traveling at a slow rate of speed due to weather conditions. A 2004 Ford F250 pickup driven by Albert was traveling Eastbound on US 50 and struck the Spectra in a rear-end collision. The pickup rolled multiple times ejecting, Albert.

Albert was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, he was not wearing a seat belt.

Ivy was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita with “Suspected Serious Injury.” She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
