One dead after two-vehicle crash in Harvey County

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck and an SUV on Wednesday morning in Harvey County, south of Newton.

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck and an SUV Wednesday morning in Harvey County, south of Newton.

Amiee Baker, 33, of Sedgwick, was driving an SUV north in the 5600 block of S. Kansas Avenue when her vehicle struck a semi truck making a delivery to a home at 10:54 a.m. Tuesday.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Response Team is assisting in the investigation.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

Traffic was closed in both directions on S. Kansas Avenue.

Emergency responders on scene included Newton Fire/EMS, the Newton Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.
