The Bethel College men’s basketball team suffered through a cold-shooting night in a 71-68 loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Friday night in KCAC play at Thresher Gym.


Kansas Wesleyan hit 49% from the field (26 of 53), while Bethel was just 39% shooting (21 of 54). The Coyotes were three of 10 from 3-point range, while Bethel was four of 21.


Bethel did outscore KWU 22-16 from the free throw line.


A.J. Range hit eight of 12 from the field en route to 20 points to lead KWU. Range also had 12 rebounds. Tyus Jeffries scored 16 and Trey Gilbert scored 13.


Jaylon Scott led Bethel with 19 points and nine rebounds. Clifford Byrd II and Bryant Mocaby each added 10 points.


Kansas Wesleyan is 3-3, 1-1 in KCAC play. Bethel falls to 1-3, 1-2 in KCAC play, and plays at 8 p.m. Friday at Tabor.


Tabor is 3-1, 1-1 in KCAC play, falling to 14th-ranked (NAIA) Oklahoma Wesleyan 79-78.
