For the second time in as many days, the Newton Rebels let a game get away late.

The Haven Warhawks scored a run on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the 11th for a 9-8 win over the Rebels in Sunflower Collegiate League play at Klein-Scott Field.

Both managers were ejected — Newton’s in the seventh, Haven’s in the 10th.

The game took just over four hours to play.

With two outs and one runner on base in the top of the fourth inning, Haven posted three singles and a walk to tie the game. Trace Maddux had a two-run single.

Three errors in the bottom of the fifth led to three Rebel runs. A Lain double and a Stephan Aguilar single in the bottom of the sixth led to another Rebel run.

Haven loaded the bases to open the seventh inning on two walks and a bloop single. An error led to a pair of runs. Desmond Grayson singled to score two more runs.

Newton led off the bottom of the ninth with a hit batter, who got as far as third base before Haven ended the inning.

After a strikeout, Aguilar was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After another strikeout, a fly ball to right ended the game.
