SALINA — The Wichita Wingnuts finished its series against the Salina Stockade with a pair of wins in an American Association doubleheader at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina.

Wichita won the first game 11-4 and the second game 6-4. Wichita sweeps the series 4-0.

The first game was tied 2-2 after three innings, but Wichita put up three runs in the fifth game and six in the sixth inning to take the lead. Salina scored two runs in the seventh.

Wichita was led by Zac Fisher, who went two for five hitting with a home run and five RBIs. Brent Clevlen went two for four hitting with four RBIs. T.J. Mittelstaedt went three for five with an RBI. Harrison Kain and Christian Stringer each went three for four hitting, scoring five runs between them.

Aaron Olivas and Cody Coffman each had a solo home run for the Stockade. Roche Woodard drove in two runs.

Ryan Kussmaul (4-2) went six innings for the win, striking out 14. Brian Smith (0-5) took the loss for Salina.

In the second game, Wichita scored five runs in the second inning and another in the fifth. Salina scored three runs in the fourth inning and a run in the fifth.

Kain, Stringer, Clevlen, Mitteldstaedt, Matt Chavez and Richard Prigatano each drove in a run for the Wingnuts. Prigatano and Stringer each had three hits. Martin Medina had two hits.

Olivas went two for three for Salina. Daniel Aldridge drove in two runs. Woodard hit a solo home run. Jesse Baker also drove in a run.

Eddie Medina (4-1) went five innings for the win, striking out five. Mike Devine and Seth Harvey each threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Harvey picked up the save, his fourth of the season.

Joe Robinson (0-5) lasted just two innings in the loss.

Wichita improves to 23-10, winning five straight. Salina drops to 2-32, losing nine straight. Wichita takes a 5 1/2-game lead over Cleburne in the AA South.

Wichita takes today off and hosts Cleburne at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
