Newton Chapter IA of P.E.O. awarded two scholarships at the Newton High School Virtual Awards Night on May 1.

Jaden Anton and Ellen Miller Garrett were chosen to receive these scholarships. These two girls were honored because of their academic excellence, service to the community, and their leadership and talent through their many high school activities. Anton will attend Kansas State University in the fall and Miller Garrett will attend University of Washington or Knox College in the fall.

P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization in which women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. There are a quarter of a million members in chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada and their mission is to promote educational opportunities for women through six international philanthropies or projects. P.E.O. is clearly making a difference in the lives of women all over the world.

These awards will be presented in August by Chapter IA president Mary Anne McCloud and high school scholarship chairperson Noelle Dickinson.
